Tuesday's With Corey (Episode 7)
2009-12-08

This weekly feature ‘Tuesdays with Corey’ is inspired by a book called ‘Tuesdays with Morrie’, written by the famous author Mitch Albom. In this motivational true story, Mitch reflects with his old university professor, Morey, about life lessons and how to live your life to the fullest.
This is Coach Crocker’s favourite book. Every Tuesday, Corey will give Rambler fans his personal thoughts of the past games and other related topics. He will also post his favourite weekly motivational quote and a tip for all young hockey players to use in practice. Enjoy!!!
Episode 7– Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009
Hello Fans,
I hope you enjoy this feature ‘Tuesdays with Corey’. I am really excited to do this weekly feature and thanks for supporting our team.
This past week we played three out of division games, two against Woodstock and one against Dieppe. On Wednesday we travelled to Woodstock to battle the undefeated Slammers. Going into the game most would have guessed the outcome and the outcome did go in the Slammers favour but we played a great game and deserved more than we got. Cudmore played unreal in net stopping many point blank shots. On Saturday we battled the same Slammers team and again the score went in the Slammers direction as they continued their undefeated streak to 19 games. This Slammers team in for real. The better team on those two nights won the hockey game.
On Sunday we went up against the Dieppe Commandos. We have had success against this squad thus far this season and the first two periods showed signs that this trend would continue. Going into the third period up 4-1 and feeling confident the Ramblers got themselves into penalty trouble which cost them the game. This lose was unacceptable. Like always, we are not going to hide behind with what’s going on. Everyone needs to be better!!!
Final thoughts on the past three games – Woodstock is a championship hockey club right now. Will they go undefeated all season? NO but it is going to take a championship effort and team to beat them. There is no question that we let a point slip away on Sunday. As hard as it is at times we are staying positive and we will not let negativity be the main focus of this hockey club.
‘QUOTE OF THE WEEK’
“We cannot direct the winds but we can adjust our sails.”
‘FUTURE RAMBLERS PRACTICE TIP’
Saucer Pass
The saucer pass is used to pass over an opponent’s stick. The puck spins from the heel of the stick to the toe of the stick. The puck should be approximately four to six inches off the ice and land flat in a spinning motion. It must land before the receiver’s stick. Players should lead the receiver more than usual, as the pass is slower.
Congrats to Jon Waye, Trevor Layton, and Justin Matthews for winning the Amherst Jr. Ramblers Society Bursary Awards for this semester. I would like to thank the Alumni Society for all their work.
