Last week’s losses are now a distant memory for the Ramblers as they head into the weekend with games against the Truro Bearcats and the Summerside Western Capitals.
“We’ve been trying to keep it positive in the practices and the dressing room,” Ramblers coach Corey Crocker said. “We are still convinced we’re a good hockey team, we just have to go and get some wins.”
Their first game of the weekend is in Truro on Saturday night. The Bearcats are at the top of the Bent Division with 37 points.
The Ramblers have played them twice this year, beating them Nov. 6, by a score of 4-3, then losing 3-2 on Nov. 21.
“I think teams match up against other teams and we match up very well against Truro,” Crocker said. “We always have tight matches and it’s good for both teams and Shaun (Evans) is a very good coach. He has a very good team but our boys get up for it and you can expect a very good game Saturday night.”
On Sunday afternoon the Ramblers travel to Summerside where they face the Capitals.
“We beat them once there and lost once over here,” said Crocker. “You have to play a perfect game to beat them over there in Summerside. It’s a very tough place to win.
“But we’re concentrating on Saturday now and we’ll worry about Sunday when the time comes.”
The Ramblers have four games before the Christmas break and Crocker wants his team to stay positive.
“It’s frustrating sometimes when you play well and don’t win and sometimes you deserve to lose because you don’t play so well,” Crocker said. “We have to stay positive here and go work hard for the remaining four games before Christmas.
“There’s no one getting down, we always keep believing and try to turn this thing around and see what we can do heading into the deadline here,” Crocker added. “The main thing is to keep things loose and to keep things very simple and basic and keep things positive.”
The puck drops in Truro at 7:30 p.m. and in Summerside at 2 p.m.
