2010-01-16

The Ramblers are suddenly road warriors.
Amherst doubled up the host Lumberjacks 8-4 in Maritime Junior A Hockey League play Friday night at Bridgewater Arena. The Ramblers also handed Bridgewater an 8-4 setback Jan. 5 at the Stadium. It's the bordertowners second straight win away from home after ending a 13-game road losing streak Tuesday, rallying from 5-1 down in the third period to defeat the Dieppe Commandos 6-5 in a shootout.
Justin Matthews, named MJAHL player of the week Tuesday, continued his torrid scoring pace with a goal and four assists, giving him 13 points in his last six games. Jeremy Barron had a four-point night (three goals and an assist). Barron and Matthews were named first and second stars, respectively. Brandon Street added a goal and three assists to give him nine points in five games as a Rambler.
Josh Coleman scored twice (now third on the team in goals behind Barron and Matthews, with 10) and Yohann Mathieu netted his first goal of the season. Jon Waye picked up the win in goal, making 36 saves. Three of Bridgewater's goals came on the power play.
Amherst took over sole possession of fourth place in the Bent Division with 32 points, and moved to within two points of third-place Bridgewater, which has five games in hand.
The Ramblers return home to play the league-leading Woodstock Slammers on Saturday at 7 p.m
