Monday, August. 23, 2010 (first day of hockey school)

Tuesday, August. 24, 2010

Wednesday, August. 25, 2010

Thursday, August. 26, 2010 (banquet day + Paul MacLean - Red Wings Assistant Coach)

Friday, August. 27, 2010 (last day of hockey school)

 

Hockey School Location:  Amherst Stadium

 

Cost of Hockey School:

PLAYER - $280.00

GOALTENDER - $150.00

 

All participants receive the following at the Amherst Jr. Ramblers Hockey School:

1.       Ten hours of instructional ice time

2.       One hour of power skating – Total of 11 hours of ice time

3.       Five hours of instructional fitness

4.       Five hours of presentations

5.       Skill Development Analysis – Steva Hockey Software Program

6.       Hockey School Jersey

7.       Hockey School Water Bottle

8.       Hockey School Handout

9.       Banquet (Pizza and a drink provided)

10.   Giveaways (At the banquet)

 

To improve our hockey school this year we are excited to announce that DETROIT RED WINGS Assistant Coach PAUL MACLEAN will be a special guest on the ice Thursday, August. 26 and PAUL will also be our guest speaker at the banquet.  Paul has spent a number of years playing and coaching in the NHL and we are very greatly he has agreed to be a part of the Rambler family.  In 2008 Paul won a Stanley Cup with the Detroit Red Wings!!!


Registration Procedure:

You can register by calling Corey Crocker at 902 661 0472 or by emailing Corey at ccrocker@amherstramblers.com .  All communication will be done via email!!!

 

When you register you will be required to give the following information:

Full name, date of birth, mailing address, division of play in 2010-11, jersey size, email address, and phone number.

 

REGISTRATION ENDS MAY. 15, 2010

 

Full payment for the hockey school is required by May. 20, 2010.  Specific dates will be set for parents to come in and pay.  If you are registering two participants from the immediate family you will get a 10% discount, if you are registering three participants from the immediate family you will get a 20% discount.  NO REFUNDS will be issued after July. 15, 2010.

 

 

On Ice Instruction:

On -ice instruction will again this year be headed up by Amherst Jr. Ramblers Head Coach Corey Crocker and Assist Coach Jeff Lewis.  During the eleven hours of instructional ice time participants will learn the four basic skills of hockey which include SKATING, PASSING, SHOOTING, AND PUCK CONTROL.  Corey and Jeff will incorporate activities and drills on the ice to challenge each player individually and enhance their development.

 

Power Skating Power Hour:

Each group will receive one hour of POWER SKATING instructed by Jeff Lewis.  Participants will learn various skating techniques which include turns, edge work, power strides, backwards skating, balance, agility, and much more!!!

 

Off Ice Fitness Instruction:

Off- ice fitness instruction will be headed up by one of the finest physical educations teachers this area has to offer.  Darren White will guide each participant through five hours of hockey specific training and organized activity.  Participants will perform exercises which include strength, endurance, quickness, agility, plyometrics, teamwork, communication, and leadership.  All off -ice activity will take place at Spring Street Academy.

 

Off Ice Co-ordinators:

Every year we try and build our hockey school to be the best in Atlantic Canada and this year we are taking another step.  Doug Hart and Matt Chitty will be off- ice co-ordinators to oversee all duties off the ice and make sure everything is running smoothly.

 

Presentations – Classroom:

Each day participants will spend one hour listening to a presenter talk about different topics that surround becoming a better hockey player and a better person.  Topics that maybe covered during their classroom session include NUTRITION, GOAL SETTING, MAKING THE RIGHT DECISION, HOCKEY TALK, A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE PLAYER and MENTAL TOUGHNESS IN SPORTS.  All presenters will be professional people in their field from the Cumberland County Area.  During these classrooms session participants may watch educated movies on hockey and related topics.
